Horses have always been a big part of my life. Growing up in Washington State near the Puget Sound I spent as much time as possible around horses. My Grandmother helped me and my two older brothers buy our first horse, matching our cash contribution obtained from picking and selling raspberries. That horse became part the fabric of my life; it provided transportation for my first real job, delivering newspapers, fueled my competitive spirit by offering me the opportunity to compete in 4H and local rodeos, became the basis for a lifetime concern for animals and their care, and was the foundation for my sense of responsibility.
While animals and particularly horses have been a lifetime love, nursing school and beginning my career kept me from that love for a few years, although a full-time job in a veterinary clinic during nursing school offered some satisfaction. I began my nursing career in Washington and later relocated to Northern California. It was there that I shifted from nursing to the healthcare industry as an early employee and one of the first four sales representatives for STERIS Corporation. The Company was founded in the late 80’s; I started my career there in 1990 and 10 years later the company had annual revenues exceeding $900 million, and was regarded as the most successful medical IPO of the 90’s. I had the rare business opportunity to gain a wide range of experience which one only gains from an extremely fast growing and highly successful company. During those 10 years I held a number of positions, including Midwest Regional Manager, General Manager of Canadian operations and Product Manager for the surgical table product line. I also had the good fortune to travel much of the US and numerous international destinations, and the means to reconnect with my love for horses. After STERIS I furthered my marketing experience with two additional medical device companies; one as the Vice President of Marketing for an international medical device simulator company.
Having lived and worked around the United States and Canada in some of the most beautiful regions and cities, I have finally realized a long overdue dream and settled into a Carolina lifestyle with my husband and our animals on a beautiful horse farm, Cedar Run Farm in Statesville, North Carolina. My husband and I left Ohio and the shores of Lake Erie in search of the perfect property and during our search I had the privilege of living on the shores of Lake Norman for several years at The Point, one of the well-known Crescent Communities.
Since I was continually reviewing Real Estate Magazines and Websites researching North Carolina Equestrian Properties and Land, I decided it was time I put my previous sales and marketing experience and 35 years of equestrian experience to work. During the past several years I have helped other people realize their dreams by finding that special location. In doing so, I have realized my dream of working at something I love.
